Julia

My daughter, Julia Christine, was born at the Bakhsh Hospital in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on 15th June 1982. In 1986 we moved from Jeddah to Al-Khobar, in the Dhahran area of the Eastern Province, and Julia started to attend the British-Dutch School at the age of just a little over four. A year later that school was amalgamated with the Dhahran Academy at the American Consulate.

In 1988 Julia moved back to Brighton, UK, with Angie and Philip, and started to attend Brighton Steiner School, which was then in two detached residential houses on the Ditchling Road. I rejoined the family at the end of January 1989. When Philip moved on to Blatchington Mill comprehensive school in 1990, Julia moved to Somerhill primary school in Hove. In 1993 she joined Philip at Blatchington Mill.

She did her A levels at Lewes Tertiary College in English, Communications Studies and Photography, and gained four grade A passes at A level. Julia then went on to study a BA in Communications and Cultural Studies and Goldsmiths College University of London, followed by an MA in English Literature at Sussex University. Between 2005 and the present Julia has written, performed and toured internationally in musical groups, participated in music and songwriting workshops for young adults, become co-director of Corporate Records (an online record label and content delivery platform), started a craft and jewellery making business called Shop Girl, and continued her documentary/ reportage photography. She married her husband Simon in 2010.
